SILVER GHOSTS
The car we know today as the Silver Ghost was in its day simply known as the 40/50hp Rolls-Royce. Many cars were given an individual name such as "The Titanic", "The Sluggard" etc, which was displayed on a plaque between the windscreen and the bonnet.

The original "Silver Ghost" was a particular car which is pictured below. The cars only became known generically as the Silver Ghost after production had ended.

SILVER DAWN
Thus, the name "Silver Dawn" is for my individual car, which is a London-to-Edinburgh chassis Silver Ghost.

The London to Edinburgh chassis is rare and sought after (shorter and lighter than the standard, with a higher performance engine). It is an absolute delight to drive - light and responsive. The primary brake is the exterior handbrake, not the emergency footbrake.
